GAME CHANGER: Joanna Lohman
Everybody has something in them that makes them different or unique from others. Jo’s uniqueness lies in her having found her cool. She’s leaned in to her life and soccer career and become a game changer.
She's the shortest on her team and yet has scored the most goals with her head. She's one of the slowest on her team but yet has logged some of the most mileage on the field. Jo’s leadership and drive on the pitch is an important part of the Washington Spirit's success right now as they head into the NWSL Semifinal Playoffs.
Off the field Jo inspires, teaches and coaches others on how to find their own cool so they too can impact change in their own lives. Recently she traveled as a brand ambassador with the US State Department empowering women & girls around the world through sports.
Scurry is a two time Olympic Gold Medalist and 1999 World Cup Champion for US Women’s Soccer. She serves as an Honorary Captain on the Washington Spirit, and is being inducted into the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture this Saturday as part of the Title IX Sports Exhibit.
We caught up with Joanna kicking around Seattle and captured a behind-the-scenes look at this badass athlete.
